Foundation Training is a NES Pharmacy competency-based training programme, accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, that takes approximately 2 years to complete. It equips pharmacists with a broad range of 'general' skills and enable them to gain a wide variety of experience within pharmacy practice. Graeme Carcary, our Professional Training and Development Manager will tutor and support each of our foundation pharmacists. Peer support will be set up both within Davidsons and at Health Board level.
Pharmacists generally register for Vocational Foundation Training straight after their pre-registration year (registration opens in July), enabling you to start training in September.
While completing the programme we to ask our ‘Foundation Pharmacists’ to work full-time, allowing you to both gain experience working us a relief manager with us, but also to give you protected development time out with the pharmacy to attend courses, work through competency framework, underpinning knowledge and build your portfolio.
Early years pharmacists undertaking the foundation programme will receive the same terms and conditions of employment as a candidate who chooses not to undertake the programme.
