Overview

Post Registration National Foundation for Newly Qualified Pharmacists

To support the Post Registration National Foundation Programme (PRFP) for Newly Qualified Pharmacists, a monthly fee will be made available to the contractor named on the pharmaceutical list where a newly qualified pharmacist has joined the scheme.

The programme is an experiential learning programme delivered by NES Pharmacy, designed to develop confidence in pharmacy practice specific to Scotland, building on the skills and resilience established during undergraduate and pre-registration training. It is aligned to the UK-wide Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Post-Registration Foundation curriculum.

This is a Non-Global Sum standalone arrangement — the payment is made to the contractor employer, not the individual pharmacist, recognising the hosting and supervisory commitment involved.

The programme aims to develop the 4 pillars of practice and enables progression — ideally working 3 days per week with the same employer for approximately 2.5–3 years to complete. Locum pharmacists cannot currently be accommodated.
